Becky

Rebecca W. Lekberg, 70, passed away peacefully at home on July 13th. Becky was born on March 19, 1946 to the late Orville and Eunice Witherell and grew up in Westboro, MA, graduating from Westboro High in 1964. She received a BS in Psychology from Tufts University in 1968, marrying her high school sweetheart Jim a week before graduation. She received her Masters Degree in Communications Disorders from UMASS in 1981 and began her professional career as a speech pathologist that year at Willie Ross School in Longmeadow and moved to East Longmeadow School System in 1987, where she specialized in speech and language disorders with young children, retiring in 2007. Becky enjoyed gardening, reading, golfing, traveling to France, Italy, England and Sanibel Island and exercising with friends at the Scantic Valley YMCA. She especially enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends and, most of all, with her grandchildren. Becky was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in East Longmeadow, and was active in many church activities including its Mission and Outreach Programs and Christian Education. Besides her husband Jim, she leaves her daughter Jody Stephenson of Worcester, MA, her grandchildren Eli, Annika and Noah Stephenson, her brother William Witherell and his wife Edie of North Grafton, MA, along with several nieces and nephews and many friends.
